East-West highway project to meet 2010 deadline

The East-West Highway project in Ho Chi Minh City will meet the February 2010 deadline, the management board of East-West Highway and HCMC water environment projects announced Tuesday.

According to the board, 60 percent of the 22-kilometer highway project is done. Construction of the project’s major bridges Chu Y, Cha Va and Calmette are scheduled for completion in early 2009.

Dang Ngoc Hoi, head of the HCMC water environment project, said work for the project’s sewage treatment factory and drainage system will be completed later this year.
