Mekong fund closes US$5m investment

The Mekong Enterprise Fund II has completed an investment of US$5million in Digiworld Corporation, marking the eighth investment of the fund since it made its debut in June 2006.

"Viet Nam’s IT market has experienced impressive growth over recent years, and has strong long-term development potential. Digiworld is a leading distributor with an extensive distribution network and 10 years experience in the industry," Chris Freund, Managing Partner of Mekong Capital said.

He added that Digiworld, with its professional and systematic operations and strategic vision, would boost its well-established position in the country’s distribution market.

Digiworld CEO Doan Hong Viet said, "Digiworld chose the fund as its strategic partner to jointly build the company to be the top distributor for both suppliers and customers. We believe that with the assistance of the fund, Digiworld will also become one of the most attractive investment opportunities in terms of returns for potential investors."

Digiworld, founded in 1997, is the authorised distributor for Acer, HP-Compaq, Dell, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Lexmark, InFocus, and Logitech. 2007 marked a significantly successful milestone in Digiworld’s 10-year development when it reached VND1,000 billion ($57 million) in revenue.

It aims to generate VND5,000 billion in revenue by 2010. Digiworld runs offices and customer care centres in HCM City, Ha Noi and Da Nang.

The $50 million Mekong Enterprise Fund II, managed by Mekong Capital, is a private equity fund focusing on equity investments in unlisted companies.
