Glass fused-to-steel and bolted tanks now in Vietnam

Founded in 1893, CST Industries is now the largest designer, manufacturer and supplier of sectional bolted and factory coated storage tanks in the world.

Headquartered in Kansas City, Kansas, in the heartland of the United States, CST has more than 100 years of experience and its tanks can be found in more than 120 countries. It has four factories (three in the US and one in the UK): Columbian Tec Tank, specialising in tanks and silos for oil storage and dry bulk; Engineered Storage Products Company, specialising in tanks for water and wastewater treatment storage; CST Vulcan, specialising in water tanks for fire protection; and Conservatek, specialising in aluminium domes, with a total workforce exceeding 500 and sales greater than $200 million per year. It has representative offices in many countries around the world, such as Argentina, Mexico, the UK, Poland, Dubai, Singapore and Vietnam, to satisfy customer needs.

Better - Faster - Cheaper - Safer are the four key benefits for customers of CST’s bolted and factory coated storage tanks. Better, with all manufacturing processes and inspections having been applied to a disciplined and consistent standard. CST also provides expert advice on coating options, like glass fused-to-steel or Thermoset Modified Epoxy, depending on the client’s applications. Faster, with 100 percent sectional factory coating, easy for export packaging and installation on site, with bolts, nuts and sealants or gaskets. Cheaper, with superior coating requiring minimum maintenance after installation, which represents a long term cost saving. The sectional tanks can also be built quickly, potentially saving money on construction time and reducing down time. Local, using semi-skilled workers also reduce installation and construction costs. Safer, with specialised erection methods, equipments and tools offering the highest level of workplace safety available for tank construction. Depending on the quantity and size of the tanks, building jacks are recommended for lifting the tanks in lieu of scaffold. Another benefit of CST’s bolted and factory coated tanks is the scope for future extension and relocation.

Out flat panel tank can achieve capacity of 45,000 cu m or more, depending on specific circumstances. Flanged tanks can reach a capacity of 12,000 cu m.

CST tanks are designed to recognised international major design criteria for sectional bolted tanks. These include:
1: AWWA D103, for storage of potable (drinking) water - Primary Region: North America
2: FM - Factory Mutual, for storage of fire protection - Primary Region: Worldwide
3: NFPA 22, for storage of private fire protection - Primary Region: North, South, and Central America

Vietnam’s economy has boomed in recent years with many projects being implemented in all key industries, such as : oil refining, water and wastewater treatment, and steel and paper production, power energy,… especially after WTO entry. The country is a major potential market for CST’s tanks and domes. After just one year of doing business in Vietnam we have received a great number of requests for quotations from on-going projects and a number of contracts have been signed. Such agreements include the water supply project in Buon Me Thuot, water storage for fire protection at the Hatay Brewery Company, a silo for canxicarbonate storage for the Pha Lai II Thermal Power Plant, and a wastewater treatment project in Go Cat, Ho Chi Minh City.

CST has opened a representative office in Vietnam to facilitate customer approach and provide full and accurate information on its products. The plans in Vietnam focus on three key sectors: foreign direct investment (FDI), private companies and state owned enterprises. After a year in the country CST has received positive signals from FDI enterprises and the private sector.

CST marketing activities, like workshops and exhibitions, have been held frequently in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, the two key cities of the country. From 30th October – 2nd November 2008, CST Industries Inc will participate at the H2O exhibition in Phu My Hung, Ho Chi Minh City, and at VietWater 2008 in Hanoi from November 18 - 20 to introduce CST advanced products to customers in Vietnam. CST knowledgeable and expert sales team will provide technical consultancy to developers on what CST has to offer their projects.
