HCM City (VNA) – Motorola has deployed a WiMAX trial network for the Vietnam Datacommunications Company (VDC), the largest internet service provider (ISP) in Vietnam .
WiMAX allows more people faster access to internet connections and other advanced telecom services.
The network allows VDC, a member company of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), to test next-generation, wireless broad-band services in Hanoi and HCM City.
The launch of the WiMAX service followed the signing of an agreement between Motorola and the VDC to do a technical and commercial WiMAX trial last year.
Under the agreement, Motorola will install WiMAX Diversity Access Points and more than 100 customer premises equipment (CPE).
Ray Owen, general director of Motorola Vietnam , said the WiMAX trial would strengthen the relationship with the VDC and offer more broadband choices to subscriners.
Motorola WiMAX 802.16e technology enables the VDC to reach a wider subscriber base and to meet the growing demand for IP services, such as VoIP.
Motorola, which last year earned 36.6 billion USD has 24 contracts for commercial WiNAX networks in 19 countries.-Enditem
